Quint and quirky old inn with plenty of space for multiple families. The kitchen came well equipped with all the tools needed to feed our group multiple meals a day. If you appreciate farmhouse charm it's great. Owner was very responsive to any problems we had (like needing new sheets when one family left)

This is such a lovely old home. It was comfortable and spacious. We felt right at home. Beds are plush and comfortable. Lots of pillows, blankets, and towels. Very clean. Lots of games to play and a Foosball table. Host left us a bottle of wine to celebrate the wedding weekend. The host was easily accessible and friendly.

Host was super helpful and always responsive to any and all questions we had throughout our stay! The owner does live in the house in a separate section . The house is pretty big with 4 full bathrooms and accommodating a big group/family. The house is a bit older, and full of antiques. The kitchen has a ton of appliances and spacious. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the the fire pit outside was also a great activity to do at night!

An old farmhouse, very pretty with awesome antiques. A bit cold, temperature wise being an old farmhouse is expected. But we figured it out….. Good location for skiing at Gore Mountain. Our high light was the Foosball table with our adult kids! Having 4 bathrooms and a large kitchen and living room was a comfortable blessing.

What should I bring when I stay at The Alpine Homestead?

We supply most essentials so you can travel light: linens, towels, pillows, fully equipped kitchen (dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, etc.), toilet paper, paper towels, and basic cleaning supplies. Bring your own food, personal toiletries, and any special dietary items. We also provide a starter supply of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

Is there parking for trailers, boats, or snowmobiles?

Yes — there is plenty of off-street parking at the end of the driveway, including space for trailers, boats, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.

Do You Have a High Chair and Pack and Play?

Yes, we try to have everything a family needs to feel at home. We have a Cosco brand High Chair and a Graco brand Pack and Play as seen in our gallery images.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. We are flexible when possible — just let us know your travel plans.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is listed on our official RedAwning booking page and varies by season and how far in advance you cancel. We recommend booking the “Book 3 nights, get the 4th free” offer early, as it is popular and dates fill quickly.

Are there grocery stores or restaurants nearby?

Yes. The closest full-service grocery store is about 10–15 minutes away in North Creek or Schroon Lake. Several good local restaurants and cafes are within a short drive. We’re happy to give recommendations once you book your stay.

The Alpine Homestead is a year-round destination in the heart of the Adirondacks. Here’s what’s popular each season:

Spring (April–May) – Great time to book now!Spring offers uncrowded trails, late-season skiing and pond-skimming at Gore Mountain (often open into April), maple sugaring festivals, early trout fishing, and beautiful wildflower hikes. Rivers are running strong for white water rafting, and it’s one of the best times for rail biking or peaceful lower-elevation trails before summer crowds arrive.

Summer (June–August)White water rafting on the Hudson River, kayaking and swimming at nearby Minerva Lake, hiking, mountain biking at Gore Mountain, and family fun at Six Flags Great Escape are all at their peak.

Fall (September–October)World-famous Adirondack fall foliage viewing, scenic drives, hiking, and photography. Gore Mountain’s gondola often runs for leaf-peeping, with vibrant colors and fewer crowds.

Winter (November–March)Excellent skiing and snowboarding at Gore Mountain (just 8 minutes away), snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and cozy evenings around the fire pit at the homestead.

What services do you offer?

We offer a wide range of services tailored to your needs, including chef services, personalized meal planning for any or every meal during your stay, packed lunches, food provisioning, beverages, Snacks, Desserts, or a Birthday Cake order, to your complete fully catered stay or just a few full trays of food for your entire groups arrival. Advanced booking is required for most services; however, for last-minute bookings, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Additionally, our expert guides can enhance your experience with activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and snowmobiling. Once you have booked your stay, send us a note, and we will discuss your plans and needs, or surprises!
